Top Tips for Organizing your Bathrooms and Closets

Closets and bathrooms are the two most dreaded areas to clean. A dirty bathroom is a breeding ground for bacteria and a neglected closet can easily become overrun and cluttered. Here are our favorite tips for organizing your bathrooms and closets; we have used them to help keep our clients living spaces in tip-top shape!

Fresh Bathroom

Hang a basket on the towel rail

Put your bath/shower supplies into a plastic basket with holes (like the ones for clothes pegs) and hang it on the towel rail. Much better than cluttering the edge of the bath!

Shower squeegee

Run a squeegee down the sides of the shower (or the curtain) after every use.

Deep-clean the toilet

Pour enough bicarb or germ-fighting detergent into the bowl to clean an elephant. Let it soak for a while before scrubbing. Don’t forget to clean the toilet brush afterwards!

Wipe everything down

Water marks form when condensation dries out. Wipe the floor, walls, and mirrors with an absorbent cloth to soak up the moisture after every bath or shower.

Air regularly

Moisture and humidity build up quickly, so install a vent or open the bathroom window regularly. Remember to wipe everything down first!

De-cluttered Closet

Use trouser hangers for your boots

Hangers with sliding clips designed for dacks are great for footwear. Hang the ones you’re not using and switch over each season. Avoid hanging sandals and heavy boots together, as that can damage more delicate items.

Crown moulding shoe hangers

Crown moulds are one of the most inexpensive shoe-hanging hacks. They’re designed to go on the wall and are perfect for hooking your heels over so your shoes aren’t lying around for you to step on.

Divider shelves

Divider shelves are ideal for organizing towels, purses, linens, sweaters and even books.
Store bed sheets in matching pillow cases: a simple trick is to tuck the sheet set inside one of its matching pillow cases, and then stack according to size or by the room you use it in.

Create storage containers from mason jars

Make use of all those mason jars you’ve been hoarding. They’re perfect for storing valuable small items in your closet, bathroom, and any other room.

We’re sure these tips will help keep your closet and bathroom clean and organized. You’ll no doubt come up with new ideas of your own. We’d love to hear them!
